پاسارگاد پایتخت امپراتوری هخامنشی در زمان کوروش کبیر بود که دستور ساخت آن را صادر کرد. امروز این مکان باستان شناسی و یکی از سایت های میراث جهانی یونسکو در حدود 90 کیلومتری شمال شرقی شهر مدرن شیراز است. اعتقاد بر این است که مقبره سنگ آهک در آنجا کوروش بزرگ است.
